Lockdown Love: Valentine’s Gift Ideas for Him

With even Cupid himself in Lockdown, here’s some Valentine’s Day gift ideas you can order online for that special someone.

Well folks, it’s that time of year again. Some people love it, some people hate it. Whatever your viewpoint is on Valentine’s Day, it’s undeniable that this year’s is going to be very different from normal times.

Last year, my boyfriend and I stayed at a stunning waterfront hotel by Tower Bridge. We had champagne and chocolates and got to escape our everyday lives for just one night. I’ve had to really put my thinking cap on for this year’s plan.

I asked you guys on Instagram if you’d like me to put together a list of some Valentine’s Day gift ideas for him, with links to everything. It seems my peers are also struggling to come up with something, as the majority of you voted “yes”. So, without further ado, here we go.

Menkind. You know the saying: Men and their gadgets! This website is a super cool store filled with all the things your boyfriend probably doesn’t need, but certainly wants! They even have a special “Valentine’s Day gifts for him” section. You can find it here.

I’m pretty sure I’ve even used this website in the past to find gifts for my dad. Here are some of my favourite items:

  • If your boyfriend is a beer lover, why not give him this 100 Beers Bucket List. He’ll get to scratch off each beer as he tries it! Menkind also has a lot of other home bar accessories too.
  • If your boyfriend wants work-from-home to be more comfortable, why not try this multi-purpose lap desk. It includes a built in mousepad and even a place for your phone!
  • If your boyfriend is on the fitness grind, why not try this blender that’s easy to use and portable for on-the-go. It can be used for smoothies, shakes, or even margaritas. Hmm how fun would that be to bring to an outdoor picnic once life is back to normal?!
  • If your boyfriend likes personalised things, from marmite jars to Toblerone bars, and beer glasses to keyrings, why not check out Menkind’s personalised section.
  • If your boyfriend is a football fan, why not try this personalised LFC water bottle, Arsenal mug and Manchester United mug. They have other major football teams there too.
  • If your boyfriend is a foodie, why not try this rolled ice cream maker or this cool kitchen conversions wooden chopping board. I bet you’ve wondered how many ounces is in 500ml before! I certainly have!
  • Menkind also has gaming and tech gadgets, from massage gifts, to grooming gifts, and health and fitness gadgets.

Hampers, Food Boxes and Experiences. Seeing as how we can’t go out for a romantic meal, why not order it straight to your door or do a live cook-along class? This way it’s also a present for both of you!

Hampers

  • Naykd Graze are doing the cutest Valentine’s Day box ever! You can order it with or without champagne. They also have a bunch of other food boxes from boozy brunch to cheese and meats. Their Valentine’s Box is also 10% off with the code VALENTINE10.
  • BoroughBox wine and cheese box. Who doesn’t love a romantic wine & cheese night?!
  • Lola’s Cupcakes has the most adorable Valentine’s Box with cupcakes, brownies, fresh strawberries, flowers, champagne and more!

Food Boxes and Experiences (ps. I definitely owe my knowledge of what’s available to @southeastfoodies on Instagram – they put together a fantastic guide!)

  • Homeslice is doing an amazing deal where you get sent a kit of pizza dough and toppings, brownies and ingredients to make their special Valentine’s Turkish Delight cocktail. Then at 6pm on 14 February you join an online masterclass and cook-along with Homeslice co-founder Mark Wogan and drinks expert Alex King! You can sign up here.
  • La Tua Pasta (the best pasta!) is doing a few Valentine’s boxes, which you can find here. If you love truffle then you might want to check out their San Valentino’s Box – Truffle (with Prosecco). It includes black truffle heart-shaped ravioli topped with truffle butter (drooling yet? I am). It also comes with fresh bake-at-home focaccia and olive tapenade, and some Italian chocolates to top it all off. It even includes two stunning linen placemats made in Italy. How amazing?!
  • Burger & Beyond is doing a kit for all the meat lovers out there. It comes with a bottle of prosecco, brownies, truffle tots or dirty tots, a fried chicken kit, and a bacon butter burger kit. YUM! You can find it here.
  • Square Meal has a lot of other wicked restaurant boxes listed too.

Small Businesses to support

  • Daisy Chain Baker on Instagram. I ordered from Ayesha for my first anniversary with my boyfriend back in November. She made the most beautiful and delicious buttercream cake and even hand delivered it to me.
  • Bon Vino, located in Bermondsey, has an amazing selection of wines, including orange wines. Their online shop delivers nationwide. If you live in London you can even get same day delivery!

Other things to do

  • Why not build a cute den out of pillows and blankets in the living room and spend the day watching movies! If you aren’t living with your significant other, then you could watch the same movie at the same time while on video call. This would be a cute way to spend time together while apart. The Oprah Magazine has a list of 41 of the most romantic Valentine’s Day movies.
  • Go for a romantic walk to the waterfront, a park, the beach, whatever you live by!
  • For those couples kept apart, you could get dressed up for a candlelight dinner over FaceTime! You can even make sure you cook the same things!
  • Take a relaxing bath with your favourite bath bombs and bubbles. I personally love Lush, which has some ultra-themed bath essentials for Valentine’s Day.
  • Recreate your first (or favourite) date! Try to wear the same clothes and eat the same food as you did that time!
  • Boozy painting. Why not get the bubbles flowing, the paint dripping and get your hands dirty with some at-home art. You can buy some canvases and paints online and challenge each other to create different things! Amazon has some good options.

Whatever you end up doing, I hope you all have the most romantic Valentine’s Day yet!
